ADM232A is a high-speed RS-232 line driver/receiver. It has highly efficient on-chip charge pump using small (0.1µF) external capacitors allows RS-232 bipolar levels to be developed. This line driver is fabricated on BiCMOS, an advanced mixed technology process that combines low power CMOS with high-speed bipolar circuitry. This allows for transmission rates upto 200kB/s. This line driver is widely used in application such as computers, peripherals, modems, printers, instruments etc. The ADM232A is a pin-compatible, high-speed upgrade for the AD232 and for the ADM232L.

• On-board DC-DC converters
• Output voltage swing is ±9V at ( All transmitter outputs loaded with 3Kohm to ground)
• Receiver input level is ±30V
• Pin compatible with MAX232A
• Logic pull-up current is 12µA typ at (TIN = 0V)
• Output resistance 300 ohm min (VCC = V+ = V– = 0V, VOUT = ±2V)
• Power supply current is 4mA typ (at no load)
• Transition region slew rate is 8V/µ typ at (CL = 50pF to 1000pF, RL = 3Kohm to 7Kohm)
• Operating temperature range is −40°C to +85°C
• Package style is 16-lead standard small outline package [SOIC-W]
