MAX3491AEASD+

MAX3491AEASD+ is a full duplex ±20kV ESD-protected RS-485/422 transceiver, optimized for extended cable runs in noisy environments. This receiver features a unit-load input impedance, allowing up to 32 devices on a single bus. Each transceiver includes a fail-safe receiver, ensuring the receiver output (RO) is high when inputs are shorted, open, or connected to a tri-state bus. It features enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±20kV HBM ESD, ±15kV air-gap ESD and ±8kV contact ESD in accordance to IEC 61000-4-2. It is used in applications such as industrial-control local area networks, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, telecommunications.

• 20Mbps maximum data rate, short-circuit protected outputs
• Supply voltage range from 3V to 3.6V, allows up to 128 transceivers on the bus
• Supply current is 1.9mA typical at (DE = VCC, RE = GND, no load)
• Shutdown supply current is 10µA maximum at (DE=GND,RE = VCC)
• Differential driver output is 2V minimum at (VCC = 3V, RL = 100 ohm)
• Receiver input current is 430µA typical at (DE = GND, VCC = GND or +3.6V)
• Driver propagation delay is 30ns maximum at (RL = 54ohm, CL = 50pF)
• Receiver propagation delay is 35ns maximum at (CL = 15pF, VCC = +3.3V and TA = +25°C)
• Hot-swap capability eliminates false transitions during power-up or hot insertion
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C, 14-pin SO package
